Hello everyone. I've been having trouble working on back-back transfers. everytime i see it done in a video etc it;s hard to see what is really happening because it's always shown from the front.
i was reading the next 5 steps, but couldn't read past palm-plam due to the way i learn things.
any simple words to help explain this technique, or good video links would be super duper appreciated.
thanks in advance |

As always, time and practice is the best advice, but:
"back to back transfer" at it's most basic means any direct movement of the object from one hand cradle to the other. This can be accomplished in many ways, fingertips touching, pinky to pointer, or pointer to pinky (which can be done directly, across the back of the hand, or continuing to wrists, or all the way down your arm for back to back armrolls.) I want to be clear that there is more than the 'classic' motion.
The back-to-back butterfly is actually three simple moves combined.
Starting from the Palm:
1. Butterfly to the cradle.
2. Place your other hand under and in front of the hand with the sphere and roll/drop/deposit the ball there.
3. Butterfly to palm and repeat.
I recommend the second hand in front (farther from your body) and parallel with the ground. If your hand tilts upwards to slow the ball, it disappears from the audience's feild of vision. I mention the variants because I learned it one way, plateaued, and moved on. Experimentation is the best experience. Find out what works best for you, your body, and your audience. Good luck. _________________ Insanity is considered an artform in some states of mind. |

Simply trying to accomplish it and then studying the movement can help a lot. The biggest thing isn't learning to do it the way everybody else does but learning to do it flawlessly and smoothly every time. Hope this helped. _________________ If Contact Juggling was easy then everybody would be doing it. |
