Hi, all. I'm Keb and I'm a renny. Like a lot of you guys, apparently, I first encountered contact juggling at a faire I was in. Our resident juggler then was called Bagel, and he was a pretty amazing entertainer (though we always winced when he did things that we were sure would set the faire on fire).

Our final show that year traveled to another county, far from home, and we slept in the camp nearby. At night, we had a huge campfire, and I brought my glowing ball with me for light (and because it was fun). He played with it and started contact juggling it, which looked so cool that I pestered him to show me how it was done. He gave me my first lesson there in the firelight, and told me how he'd met the man who'd done it in Labyrinth (which I thought was totally cool though I didn't know his name at the time).

Bagel died in a traffic accident. I still have my little glowing bauble, made that much more valuable to me in his memory. I had practiced some with it, but I haven't really mastered anything yet.

The other day I had my interest rekindled though, at another faire. Yesterday I bought an acrylic and a wooden ball to learn with, and I've been practicing enough with my bauble since then that I almost have the first move down.

I've found this community very useful already. It's a pleasure to meet you all.

*hyperhyperhyper* Just got my acrylic and my wooden ball from Neon Husky...I went for the discount acrylics he's got, since I've got a lot of learning to do anyhow, and it's just...so...so...so shiny pretty.

He marked mine A+/B+ but to be honest it looks perfect to my untrained eyes. Shiny!!!

A fellow rennie! Huzzah! Yep, that's pretty much where I started too, saw them a few weeks into the show, got completely hooked, practiced night and day, and by the end of the show I was helping out giving lessons. Oh, word of advice for a new player... try to find out tricks that friends who have been sphereplaying for years and still haven't got are.. and don't show them how you can do it after 3 weeks. They make mean faces at you...
