Hey guys here is a video of me doing a form called fixed line. It is influenced by mime (specifically fixed point) and tutting.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWdoLjkhamo
this clip just shows some finger work but the style can be applied similarly to the whole body.
I know it's not contact juggling, but I thought it might be of interest to this community because many of you use elements of popping and mime in your CJ now. |

omg that was awesome dude. You've got skill.
Cheers for the post. Are you a contact juggler as well? Have you seen Colin's contact/tutting vids?

Yep theres nice iso. couple funky transitions. I have made finger box shapes in contact....ie those inverted enigmas. But haven't really done much advanced finger isolationism fixed point stuff.
Wavey stuff seems more natural when starting to explore the Digtz and contact realm. But in fact waves are just really complicated isolation, so fixed point is probably a more simpler way to go out and explore really complex patterns....and minimize the loss of the concept. Waves can.....well get too wavey lol

thanks for the feedback guys. I'm new to the board. I just came by because I saw some contact vids and was really impressed. You guys are very creative. Colin can you give me some links to your vids? I don't have any juggling experience, but I would like to learn, contact especially seems like it might be a little bit easier to learn for me because of all the time I've spent practicing my coordination.
As for finger waves, well yeah, most people can naturally do a finger wave in one direction: starting at the index finger and ending at the pinky. You can do more ellaborate finger waves if you learn how to isolate each finger and each half finger. Then you can play different patterns (two at a time, three at a time, alternating, etc.). All of this stuff can be integrated with fixed line seamlessly. The point of fixed line as you mentioned Colin is to find a way to convey complex illusions to the audience. The straight framework helps to minimize the noise and make sure that the audience gets the signal. |
