Hello internet people.
Here are some new things from me. Isolation-based manipulation with dance and mime technique. Balls, 1 block and 1 club.
I'm not entirely sure I will keep this link up, as some of this material has already been filmed for the "In Isolation" DVD and maybe shouldn't be made public yet... but i'll keep it active for a few days at least.

You know I can see why some people could think that about Ryans vid. I thought maybe I like almost purely isolation and illusion pieces so much is because I can contact. but in experience, I'm sure theres some who wll agree and disagree, Isolation and illusion is just sooo damn cool even to a layerson! And gets a huge interest.
Flip side. that vid while very cool, might not be apprieciated in certain contexts...its not juggling, in nature its more subtle, so theres no big 5 club 3up piroettes. Theres still crazy skill and is well thought out but its working on a different asthetic. I think I'm on the level somewhat to have gotten quietly excited in places (no not that place!) while I was watching that vid, (and a case of deja vu, but thats a different story), I think several factors, lets say excentuate the bore factor. It all runs at the same pace, with the few exceptions, the music is a bit repetitive, It may seem that your doing different isolations everytime and other contact jugglers can appreciate, but a lay person just sees the prop being isolated over and over and might not see anything more.
Its the old analogy of the magician doing a slew of vanishes and productions each one different and unique but after only a few the audience starts getting restless and yawning, because all they see is the ball disapear and reapear over and over. then the audience thinks(which is bad unless you want them too, you want them captivated, I love that word, and hanging on and forgetting to blink or even breathe) Why is that magician making things disapear over and over they ask. Thats the question you have to answer for yourself.
yep I'm still working on that.....Its cool that this stuff has come this far already that you have to address this question, Ryan. No comment about the pants. |

You are definitely creative though, the box stuff is sweet. Just take it further. You've got some new and innovative things going. Just make them a little more exciting. |
